Body Stress in the Hips, Legs and Feet

Body Stress in the Hip Joint

As the nerve supply to the legs and feet originates from the spinal nerves of the lower back, it is vital that any body stress in this area of the spine is released.

The Legs and Feet

The ball-shaped structure at the upper end of the thigh bone fits into a deep, secure socket in the pelvis. However, this joint may be stressed by movements such as mounting a bicycle, motorbike or a horse, or in a fall, sports injuries, or from sitting cross-legged when unaccustomed to this position.

As tension becomes locked into the hip joint there may be restricted mobility, a sharp jabbing pain deep in the joint, or a milder ache when walking or dancing. People often describe it as feeling like the leg is falling off, or feeling like it may collapse with movement. The pain usually eases quickly after the release, depending on how long the tension has been locked into the structure.

The Knee Joint

This joint undergoes a great deal of strain daily, as not only does it bear the weight of the body, it is designed for the flexibility of a hinge joint. The cartilage pad in the knee and the ligaments supporting the joint may be stressed by twisting the knee, by jarring it in a fall, or in giving a hard kick.

Beside being painful, the knee joint may be weakened to the point of collapsing when pressure is exerted on the leg, as in going up or down stairs.

The Ankle and Foot

Body stress may become locked into the joints if a person twists the ankle, as in stepping off the pavement, or as a result of kicking. In addition to pain, there may be the sensation of the ankle giving way when weight is placed on the leg. The joints of the toes may also become stressed and this may in time contribute to the development of a bunion – a distortion in the area of the big toe.

Pins and needles may also be felt throughout the leg and into the toes, caused by disrupted communicated from the lower back, when there is tension on the spinal nerves.

I have been going to Retha for Body Stress Release on a regular basis and I cannot explain how my body feels after BSR sessions with her... I can only say that it is how I always imagined my body was supposed to feel ... light, pain free, comfortable. Thank you Retha! You are truly amazing!

Retha is really professional. I had 3 sessions with her just before lockdown... and it was really amazing. I could feel the tension and stress leaving. I suffered from upper back..and lower neck pain for almost 6 months on and off...and it was gone immediately after the first session with her...came back a bit a few days later...but then gone so far after session 3 now for 3 weeks! I can really highly recommend her.

After falling of my horse and collided with steel poles i could barely move. Hurt my shoulder, elbow and coccyx quite badly and extremely sore muscles i went to see Retha. Within hours after my first session i could move around and sore muscles were not as bad. She also pointed out some other issues i had and worked on them as well. Within a few days my elbow and shoulder were good to go and i could go back to my normal routine of riding and working.
