Retha is really professional. I had 3 sessions with her just before lockdown... and it was really amazing. I could feel the tension and stress leaving. I suffered from upper back..and lower neck pain for almost 6 months on and off...and it was gone immediately after the first session with her...came back a bit a few days later...but then gone so far after session 3 now for 3 weeks! I can really highly recommend her.

After falling of my horse and collided with steel poles i could barely move. Hurt my shoulder, elbow and coccyx quite badly and extremely sore muscles i went to see Retha. Within hours after my first session i could move around and sore muscles were not as bad. She also pointed out some other issues i had and worked on them as well. Within a few days my elbow and shoulder were good to go and i could go back to my normal routine of riding and working.

I recently had an Access Bars therapy session With Retha, and it was genuinely one of the most profoundly relaxing and transformative experiences I've had in a long time. Access Bars involves a practitioner gently touching 32 specific points on your head (the "Bars") that correspond to different areas of life—like money, control, creativity, healing, body, aging, and more. These points store the electromagnetic charge of thoughts, beliefs, emotions, judgments, and limiting patterns we've accumulated over time. The process is completely non-invasive: you simply lie back fully clothed while the practitioner lightly touches these points in various sequences. 

From the moment the session began, I felt an immediate wave of calm wash over me. The touch is so gentle it's almost feather-light, yet I could sense subtle shifts happening— like static electricity quietly dissipating from my mind. I drifted into a deeply meditative state, somewhere between awake and asleep, where racing thoughts simply... stopped. It felt like someone hit the "delete" button on mental clutter I didn't even realize was weighing me down. After about 60 minutes (the standard session length), I opened my eyes feeling lighter, clearer, and surprisingly energized in a peaceful way. 

The best way I can describe it is that my brain had been defragged-like a computer that suddenly runs smoother after clearing out years of junk files. The constant background noise of worry, overthinking, and old emotional baggage was noticeably quieter.

Why should I consider Body Stress Release?

Body Stress Release is a non-therapeutic complementary health profession. It is concerned with assisting the body to release stored tension, thereby allowing it to maximize its built-in ability to heal and also maintain itself. This technique has been developed and practised in South Africa since 1981.

Stress becomes locked into physical structures when the body fails to adapt to an overload of stress. This may result in pain, stiffness, numbness and postural distortions. In addition the body’s capacity to co-ordinate its functions is undermined.

Body Stress Release is a gentle, non-invasive technique where areas of body stress are located, using the body as a biofeedback mechanism. The practitioner assists the body to release the tension by applying light but precise and definite pressure to the sites of body stress.

Body Stress Release may assist in releasing tension, lifting pressure off the nervous system and improving two-way communication between the brain and body, thus leading to improved self-healing.

Note * Complementary not alternative – These two terms are often used interchangeable, as in “complementary medicine” or “alternative health-care”. They are, in fact, two quite distinct approaches and should not be confused. “Alternative” implies “instead of”, in other words, you attend an alternative practitioner in place of your doctor.

Body Stress Release stands squarely under the title “complementary”. It is a health-care profession that works alongside medicine, in cooperation, not in competition. It can enhance function while the person undergoes medical treatment, e.g. a doctor sets a broken leg, and the BSR practitioner releases the body stress which locked into the back during the accident, or that results from walking in a cast.

The BSR practitioner does not in any way diagnose or treat conditions, nor give advice on the process of a disease – that is the field of medicine. BSR does not try to duplicate any part of medical services.

Why should I consider Access Consciousness Bars?

Access Consciousness Bars is a gentle hands-on modality involving light touch on specific points on the head. These points relate to areas of life connected with thoughts, emotions, beliefs, stress patterns and mental processing. 

When the Bars points are gently held, the nervous system is able to release accumulated mental and emotional pressure that can keep the brain in a constant state of activity. 

Many people today live with continuous mental stimulation - work pressure, decision making, responsibilities, information overload and emotional stress. 

Over time this can place a significant load on the nervous system. Access Consciousness Bars sessions allow the brain and nervous system to settle into a deeply relaxed state, where stored mental tension can begin to release.
